Before you can set out on your next fishing trip, you are going to have to take a few things into consideration. First, you must think about what exactly your priorities are, when it comes to your trip. First, what are your priorities, and what do you expect to do while you are on your trip? If you are wanting go take an Alaska fishing trip, and catch Halibut, or Salmon, then you are going to have to plan accordingly. Whereas, if you are looking to take a shark fishing trip, or deep sea trip, then you need to make those necessary changes. You can’t get the best of both worlds, so you have to make up your mind, ahead of time.

Next, what mode of transportation are you going to have to use for the type of fishing that you want to do? Some fish are able to be caught from large party boats, without being spooked, or messing with the numbers that each angler pulls out, while other fish are incredibly spooky, and there will only be a few people allowed on the boat, to reduce the overall noise, and allow each angler to catch a fair number of fish.

Next, what do you intend to do with the fish that you catch on your trip? Are you going to keep them, to eat them when you get back home? If so, you are going to have to plan for storage, and travel in advance. However, if you intend to have the fish stuffed, a local taxidermist can usually take care of you, provided there is enough time left on the trip. If your fishing trip is nearing it’s end when you catch your trophy, the taxidermist can actually send the final product to you by way of airplane.

Whether you want to get away from the office, have an adventure with your friends, or spend quality time with the family, a fishing trip may be just the right solution. Fishing trips run the gamut from a few hours at the creek to weeks aboard a yacht, as a reliable source of fun for people of all income levels and personal styles. The timeless appeal of a fishing trip has been captured by many works of literature and film; the two boys who are most emblematic of childhood in America, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, memorably schemed their way into trouble while fishing.

Despite the rapid changes in amusement brought on by technology and consumerist values, the fishing trip has persisted as an activity for people of all ages. One of the many reasons for its continuing popularity is perhaps the unique, inimitable physical experience. Improvements in technology, rather than leaving traditional sports like fishing behind, are actually enhancing the experience for both amateurs and seasoned fishermen.

Fishing trips have retained their value for people all over the world because they offer challenges that cannot be matched by digital entertainment, such as the need to adapt to the whims of Mother Nature and the skills involved in finding the big catches. Some fishermen choose to rely on the basic tools that have been around for generations, while others try out the latest technology in their quest to push themselves further.

The proposal to take an extended fishing trip evokes images of friends living off the land with only the use of their wits, a tent, and a few fishing poles to replace the myriad comforts of urban life. To meet the needs of those who want to update this classic scene with more advanced equipment, a niche market has exploded with massive chain stores that specialize in quality outdoors sporting equipment. Companies such as Gander Mountain, Cabela, and Bass Pro Shops provide innovative technology and staff expertise to a nationwide base of dedicated fishing enthusiasts. In addition to the expected basics (endless supplies of baits, fishing lines and rods), they also more unexpected options, such as handheld GPS systems.

In addition to the increasingly sophisticated and exotic tools, which draw outdoor sports lovers to fishing, the personal benefits are also a plus. Fishing trips can improve family relationships by providing a simple way to spend time engaged in a constructive activity which teacher young people the values of persistence and respect for nature. A regular activity such as a fishing trip helps parents maintain closeness with their children, as well as the base level of trust, which can guard against negative effects of peer pressure so common to the teen years.

For adults as well, fishing can have an incredibly positive impact on quality of life by increasing confidence and decreasing stress. Activities such as fishing can be considered low-cost contributors to good health, as stress is linked to many chronic health problems. Fishing trips are a great choice, whether you want to slow down or take on a little adventure.

If you have been wanting to plan a fishing trip to an exotic destination but unfortunately don’t have the funds available, then you really need to consider a Canada fishing trip. While most anglers don’t really consider Canada an exotic destination, you really have to reconsider those thoughts. You need to think about a few things before you start booking your flights though, like which seasons are best to travel into Canada, because the weather and ice can get pretty bad up there. There are also a few main species of fish that you can target while you are up there, and if you had one in particular that you wanted to target, you are going to want to make sure that the season you choose is the proper activity season for that species of fish. There are also a few different areas that you can travel to that have plenty of resorts and charters available to cater to your needs. The best part of all of this is that it really isn’t all that expensive when compared to other fishing trips, and you get to spend a lot of quality time with your family that they will never forget.

Canada really is an exotic location, even though when most people think of exotic, they think of South America or somewhere tropical along the equator, but the tropics aren’t the only exotic destinations in North and South America. Canada holds spectacular back drops through all seasons, but the winters can be pretty harsh up there so keep that in mind before you start booking. Also, if you had a target species in mind, you are going to want to determine when the best season is to catch them, because while you can catch Sturgeon year round up there, the other species like Trout, Salmon, and Vardent are more active during different times in the year. You don’t want to get up there chasing your favorite trophy only to find out you chose the wrong season.

There are a few freshwater lakes available for you to stay at in Canada, as well as having spectacular fishing along the coasts in the saltwater. Above all, there are plenty of unnamed and unmapped lakes that receive hardly any fishing pressure at all, just waiting for you to get to them. Unfortunately, you do have to fly in and land on these types of lakes, so the cost is a bit higher, but the experience is excellent. If you really want to get away from it all, then you have got to consider taking a Canada fishing trip, and maybe even think about adding in a fly in fishing experience to the to do list. It is something that you will not soon forget.

I hope these tips can help you out on your next kayak river fishing trip. I know these are tough lessons that I have learned through experience, hopefully you dont meet the same fate!

One of the quickest lessons that I learned from my kayak river fishing experiences is that the current can easily move you around. It may not look like much, but in a decent sized river, you are going to have issues with the current and boat control or positioning. I have been fishing, catch something, and by the time I have gotten it next to the boat, my kayak is pinned in a pretty precarious situation. If you are in a sit inside kayak, this can quickly spell disaster. Once you get stuck against a log, or submerged tree, you will quickly realize how fast the current is.

Kayaking on the river lends itself to anchor balls instead of chains or hooks. There is a lot of junk at the bottom of the river, and if you get into a deep enough hole, get your chain snagged, you will have to cut the rope, and leave the junk dangling in the water for stuff to get caught on. Not to mention, if you have to move quick, these long anchors aren’t the easiest to get up.

Take your safety gear with you as well. Bungee everything to the boat, because you have a high chance of flipping in swift moving currents. A whistle will alert other boats and jet skis if they are around. Also, a metallic orange flag, and a flare gun are great to have on your kayak as well. So make sure your next kayak river trip is a safe one!

If you have been thinking about planning your first kayak fishing trip, here are a few tips to help you enjoy the outdoors, and arrive back home safely.

First, figure out where you want to begin your first kayak trip. Once you figure out what kind of river or creek, or even set of islands that you want to tour, figure out your launch point. If you are putting in at a creek or river, it is a lot easier to put in a few miles upstream, and then paddle down, camping along your way, than it is to paddle upstream. Going upstream does make for an easy ride back if you only have one vehicle. If you have two vehicles, store one at an exit point that you plan in advance. You can use Google Maps to determine the best route for your kayak trip.

Bring enough food and water for everybody. Unless you plan ahead of time that you are going to go hunting, and purify water, bring along enough for everybody. It doesn’t have to be full course meals, but enough to keep their bellies from growling and making people miserable. This is supposed to be fun after all.

Tell people what you are doing. Even if there are more than 2 of you in the group, make sure other people know where you are going. Tell them the route you plan to take, about how long you estimate it will take you to get to your destination, and back if it applies to you. Also, keep a good reception cell phone with you. I have always had the best luck with the older black and white screen phones, as these have the least technology, they have the best reception. Nowadays, it is hard to get lost anyways. Have a safe kayak fishing trip, and make it home in one piece!

Fishing trips are a timeless activity, for those looking to relax with friends, deepen family bonds, or just take a break from the daily grind by escaping into nature for a while. The options for fishing trips are endless- from a quick jaunt at a nearby creek to a luxury vacation aboard a private yacht; as the challenges and pleasures of fishing draw people of all backgrounds and income levels, year after year. Because of the versatility of fishing trips, they have been a part of many classic works of literature and film; who could imagine The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn without Huck and Tom, fishing together and plotting their exploits?

Some may wonder whether, in this digital age defined by consumerism, the old-fashioned fishing trip is losing its popularity. Perhaps people now prefer to fish by video game rather than in person? In fact, the sport of fishing is not being left in the dust by new technology, but instead adapting to it.

Certain aspects of a fishing trip cannot be replaced by a screen: the feel of the sun on your face, the smell of the water, the satisfaction after a struggle to reel in a big catch. While some traditionalists may favor the equipment of yesteryear, others are taking advantage of evolving technology to improve their experiences on fishing trips.

Take for example the staples of an extended hiking trip, far from hotels and other trappings of civilization. However, an ancient tent, fishing pole and rickety canoe may suffice for some, other fishing enthusiasts latch onto equipment with sophisticated features that allow them to push their personal records. The demand for quality outdoor sporting goods has not gone unnoticed; companies like Cabela, Bass Pro Shops, and Gander Mountain have capitalized on the dedication of anglers and other outdoor sportsmen to build superstore empires. A quick look through their merchandise reveals a plethora of bait options, various types of fishing lines (monofilament or fluorocarbon, anyone?) and rods, to mention just a few products.

Fishing trips are not just a great way to release stress and keep up a sporting life; they also present opportunities to maintain relationships in a busy world. A regular fishing trip between a child and their parent can be a buffer against peer pressure and certain dangers involved in growing up in a world where drugs are not just easily available, but glamorized by increasingly young teens. A few hours spent together in a peaceful, constructive environment every so often go a long way towards sustaining an open, trusting relationship.

Teaching a friend or family member to fish can increase their confidence and reduce the pressures of work. The relaxing effect of a fishing trip is also good for your health, as a cost-effective method of decreasing overall stress in one’s life. The respect for nature that is cultivated by a tradition of fishing gives both young and old angler perspective on the world that cannot be imitated by merely reading or hearing about others’ experiences. For these reasons and more, fishing trips will not be disappearing from our lives anytime soon.

A fishing charter is a trip wherein the main objective is fishing. Coast to coast from Seattle to the Outer Banks, the Florida Keys to Cape Cod fishing embodies the American past time.

Fishing charters can take place inshore, offshore and off of the Gulf Stream. For the avid fisherman, charters also offer Deep Sea fishing. Weather, tide patterns and water temperatures all play a part in the success of charter fishing. Good weather usually renders much better, and plentiful, catches of fish.

Along with the weather, water temperatures can determine a successful charter with much to catch or not so much in colder temperatures. Safety is also important when going on a fishing charter. It is important to double check your captain’s qualifications and reputation before booking your fishing charter. Fishing charters can be loads of fun, but danger can ensue with an inexperienced captain; make sure to do all of your homework: check with the Better Business Bureau, ask the captain for references, check for insurance and see if your captain is USCG licensed.

Prices for charters vary but often range from $600 and up for either half day to full day charters. Rates also depend on the location of the charter; more popular locales usually require a higher price to go out on them. Charter boats can also range in size from 21 feet and larger. The sport can be great for family outings on large vessels that can accommodate an entire family.

Charter fishing garners many tournaments each year wherein the man with the bigger fish wins and maintains “King Fisherman” bragging rights all season long. Competition can be fierce and the proper equipment can make you stand out from the rest. Equipment most often required for a fishing charter trip is rods and reels, bait and tackle. For an entire day excursion, food and water, along with sunscreen are also recommended. On some charters, refreshments are provided. In some states a fishing license is required to go out on a fishing charter; however, often a charter by itself can cover the need for a license.

To many fishermen, the prize isn’t always in the trophy. The fish that are caught can make any tournament that much more exciting to watch. Some of the fish that are sought after on fishing charters are Billfish, Dolphins, King Mackerel, Tuna, Wahoo, Sharks and even Barracudas.

In that fishing charters require the constant use of many of our countries natural resources, several organizations exist to protect the sacred waters and fish within them. In states all over the country organizations have been created to aid in preservation, conservation, as well as, to bring awareness explaining the importance of keeping the waters clean and the fish safe. Bait your hook and get in on all the fun!

The greatest thrill of a lifetime is to experience Alaskan Fishing. The pristine surroundings, the untouched rivers and lakes, turns a fishing trip into an adventure. Whatever your skill level is, fishing in Alaska is sure to meet your greatest expectations. Alaska provides the fisherman with more than 627 species of fish. The state has three million lakes, 3,000 rivers, two oceans, (Arctic and Pacific), Seas, (Bering, Chukchi, Alaska) and the Gulf of Alaska. With the many different areas and waters to fish, the question is not will you be able to catch anything, but how many fish will I catch!

Alaska has five fishing regions. South-central Alaska is known for its halibut from Kachemak Bay, the King Salmon from the Kenai River and beautiful Rainbow Trout. The Southeast region is a rustic area with majestic glaciers, fjords, and untouched forests and lakes. The rivers and lakes are filled with many species of fish both marine and freshwater. The Southwest region has excellent sport fisheries, and is known for its Pacific Salmon and Rainbow Trout. The Interior Region with its remote waters and wilderness has many areas to find Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, and Arctic Char. Lastly, in the Far North Region you will find Sheefish, Northern Pike, and Salmon, just to name a few.

If you have an interest in crabbing, try it in the calm waters of Thorne Bay, away from the turbulent ocean waters. Take a guided charter or a “crab” cruise to experience crab fishing from the professionals. Learn about setting pots, using bait and the best part, harvesting and eating the crab.

If you have been thinking about getting away from the every day hustle and bustle that life tends to throw your way, then you might want to consider taking an Alaska fishing trip. Alaska is known for it’s natural beauty, extremely deep reservoirs, ever flowing streams and rivers, as well as their trophy game fish. From Halibut, to Salmon, and Trout, it doesn’t matter what species of fish you are after, they are all larger in Alaska. Alaska fishing trips have more to offer than just some excellent trophy fishing, as you will be in the one of most beautiful, natural places on earth. It doesn’t get much more remote than this, while still remaining safe and being able to enjoy your surroundings.

If you are a fly fishermen, you have to know what it is one of the best methods for pulling large Salmon from the winding freshwater creeks and streams that flow down from the mountains. These extremely cold, crystal clear waters hold a lot of fish, giving you plenty of time to catch them as long as you know how to sling a fly. An Alaska fly fishing trip will bring you memories that are going to stick around forever, as well as some pictures of trophies that you are going to be proud to brag about. Your fishing buddies are going to be jealous when they see the amount of fun you had, while getting to enjoy your family at the same time.

Most people automatically think that fishing trips in Alaska are expensive, but the fact of the matter is that the rates on lodges, as well as plane fare is extremely reasonable. The airlines are in tough positions when it comes to selling seats, and this means that you can save a lot of money when it comes time to purchase your families tickets. The lodging is no more expensive than a nice hotel if you were to take your family down to Florida, so you are easily able to stay within your budget.

Taking an Alaska salmon fishing trip is the dream of a lot of anglers, and with the economy in the state that it is currently in, fishermen have never had a better chance of getting north of the border than they do right now. If you think you need to get away and spend some time with your family away from the hustle and bustle of your busy lives, then you really need to consider taking an Alaska fishing trip.
