Some anglers get a kick out of not only catching their favorite species, but also socializing with like minded fishermen while they are out on the water for the day. Charter fishing makes this a perfect way for these anglers to not only land the fish of their dreams, but also have the time of their life, with fun charters that can provide more entertainment then most anglers could get elsewhere, for the same amount of money. If you have been on the fence, charter fishing trips really are a great way to get away from it all, and enjoy yourself for a bit.

First, you will want to make sure that the company you are purchasing your charter through is reputable. There are a lot of charters available, but unfortunately, there are a lot of guys on the water that do not carry proper safety gear, or licensing, if required, to carry other passengers. This, along with a lack of sufficient insurance, means that yourself, and your guests are at risk when you step foot onto the boat. Spend some time up front to make sure that the prospective charter guide service is right for your group.

Next, figure out what you are going to do with the fish that you catch. When charter fishing, you are usually going after trophies, so if you are going to want to eat the fish, let the captain know ahead of time, so that he can help you catch edible sized targets. Trophy fish do not make the best table fare, but if you are intending to stuff the fish for display, then let the captain know that as well. He will likely recommend a taxidermist to you, to help connect with someone that can make your dreams a reality. Keep this in mind for your next charter fishing trip, to have a much better time.

Fishing charters or fishing trips have made fishing a sports craze from coast to coast. From the Outer banks to Seattle, from Cape Cod to the Florida keys -fishing has become the newest American past time.

Fishing charters are done either offshore or inshore and even out on the Gulf Stream. Fishing charters offer deep-sea fishing for avid fishermen. Water temperatures, tide patterns and the weather play an important role in charter fishing. With good weather, fishermen catch more fish -that of course depends on how cold or warm the water is -the warmer the water, the more fish to catch. Safety is also of priority when participating in a fishing charter. Check the captain's qualifications before booking. Fishing charters are a lot of fun but it is dangerous to join one if the captain is inexperienced. Do your homework, ask for your captain's references with Better Business Bureau and also try to check if your captain has a USCG license and check for insurance as well.

Rates depend on where you are going fishing; more popular destinations require a higher price. Most of the time though, fishing charters range from $600 up. Charter boats range in size, you can fish on a boat as large as 21 feet or even larger. Fishing charters are great fun for the whole family especially on larger vessels to accommodate the entire family comfortably.

There are many tournaments in charter fishing each year. The tournament is based on the fisherman who catches the biggest fish. The winner has the “King Fisherman” title along with bragging rights the whole season. Competition can be rather fierce but with the proper equipment, you can stand out from the rest of the gang. Equipment required is rods, reels, baits and tackles. If you are planning an excursion for the whole day, be sure to bring food, water and sunscreen. On some charters however, refreshments are supplied. Be sure that you have a fishing license because some states require one while out on a fishing charter. The charter sometimes, covers that part of the things-to-do.

For most fishermen, the trophy in the tournament is not the main prize. The fish caught makes any tournament exciting to watch. Fish usually sought after during fishing charters are wahoo, tune, king mackerel, dolphins, billfish, barracudas and even sharks.

Since fishing charters bring in many people to the waters, there are several organizations that protect the fish and the waters. These organizations have been created across all states to aid in conservation, preservation, as well as in bringing awareness and explaining the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the waters and keeping the fish safe. With all these in mind, go right ahead and bait your hook!

The city of Homer has the best fishing in Alaska bar none. The average halibut caught in Homer ranges from fifty-five to eighty pounds, it’s nothing for a few one-hundred plus pound halibut to show up at the docks in the afternoon. But do not be surprised if you hook a three hundred pound flat fish on your fishing trip, because these big bruisers are out there and are very cunning.

Halibut fishing in Alaska is always done with a chartered boat and professional guide. You will need someone well versed in catching these monsters of the sea, because after wearing you out with the rod and reel, you still need to get the fish onto the boat and halibut usually needs two people for this maneuver. At times they need to be shot with a pistol so it’s easier to pull them over the side of the boat.

Choosing an Alaskan halibut fishing trip is not very hard, especially with the Internet. Just do a search on your favorite search engine for “halibut fishing charter in Alaska” and start checking out the services one by one until you find one you like. As always, ask the typical questions of cost, what you need to supply for your day on the boat, and of course how much will it cost to clean, filet and have shipped back home.

Fishing lodges and hotels are abundant and when you contact the fishing charter, ask them where the best place to stay while fishing halibut in Alaska. They will know which places are the best and will keep you from being disappointed once you get there.

There are two reasons to go fishing for halibut in Alaska. The first is the great time you will have dragging one of the huge fish to the surface and getting him on board and the second is the absolutely wonderful halibut grilled steaks you will enjoy once you are back home and get your grill fired up. If you have never tasted grilled halibut, then run down to your local fish monger and buy a couple of one pound filets and try it. Then you will know what all the fuss over halibut is.

Salmon and halibut fishing in Alaska are both equally rewarding for the sport and the taste of the fish, and since you’re going to be traveling that far for vacation. You might as well book a fishing lodge on the Kenai or Copper River and enjoy catching some salmon as well.

Are thinking maybe hiring one of the many of fishing charter companies in the North Carolina Outer Banks region to take you out for your very first deep sea fishing experience? What type of questions should you ask before hiring a deep sea fishing charter? These and more questions will be answered in this article.

First off, where on the Outer Banks would you like to go fishing? The line stretches about 200 miles and there are plenty of great vacation spots within these geographic confines. You may want to consider staying near some of the following islands. Bodie, Roanoke, Hatteras, Sunset over Avon and Ocracoke Island. You will need to do your research online to find out which is best for you and your family.

Charter fishing boats need to be shopped just like any other service or product. The captain who will be taking you to land the big one will need to be experienced, Coast Guard certified, and overall know how to bring a group together and have a good time with the utmost safety in mind. You may want to ask how long he has working with outer banks fishing charters. Also, in what situation would he cancel the due to weather or other uncontrollable circumstances?

What do they supply during one of their charter fishing trips? Fishing gear, bait, safety equipment, and most importantly instruction on how to deep sea fish. If you are with a family you will need a boat with a working head or toilet. What time do you leave the dock and when do you return. If the seas are to rough is there an alternate area that you navigate to in the bay to still enjoy your fishing day trip.

Size matters when it comes to carter fishing trips – If the boat is a 35 foot V Hull and has a max of 20 knots then your captain can probably only operate in the least amount of swells. If you hire a fifty-seven foot cabin cruiser it will handle even higher swells and get you to your location all the quicker.

Be sure and pack the toughest sunscreen you can find, hats, jackets, food and drinks for your party. iPods, PSP’s for the kids when they get board if that is possible. Very few if any deep-sea fishing charters come fully catered for all your personal needs. Remember you are going to be gone for average time of eight to ten hours so being prepared is key.

What could be better than charter fishing in Destin Florida anytime of the year? If you want to take clients, friends or family out for some best charter fishing trips then read on. Fishing charters usually charge by the person with a time frame stipulation, like two hours, half or whole day. The charters are great for birthdays, anniversaries, corporate retreat excursions, and of course a memory your kids will never forget.

The average price when using outer banks fishing charters varies, but is quite competitive since the market is flood with charter fishing boats. Price start around $100.00 per person with a six-person minimum. Of course, if you have a dozen people in your fishing party the price will go quite a bit. These are usually called private fishing charters and you and the people in your part will be the only ones going out with the boat. If you only have a couple of people, then you would around to the local companies and see who is doing what is called “available groupings”. This where they pair you up with others that do not have enough for a private party.

Destin fishing charters offer year round fishing and depending on what type of seafood you would like to catch for eating or making a trophy will decide which month you will go fishing. May through October holds the widest varieties of your favorite fish like Red Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Tuna and Redfish. January through April are pretty slim as far as varieties and what is in season, but you fun and a great catch can be still be had for all.

Deep-sea fishing charters have safety rules, and a general etiquette to follow. You may be paying for the private party, but the captain is still in charge and his warning and commands must still be heeded. His concern is to get you out in the ocean, and let you have the time of your life wrestling the biggest fish you have ever come in contact with in your life. But, at the same time your safety and well being are his first responsibility.

One last thing, be sure and ask the charter-booking agent about food and beverages, some supply everything and others do not. Also ask about if alcohol is allowed. You do not want to show up with a couple coolers of beer to have to leave them on the dock to go fishing.

If you don't necessarily have the money to take a full blown fishing trip, you may want to consider charter fishing as a very viable option to getting out on the water and enjoying some monster catches. While most of the best fishing charters are available to those living nearest to the coasts, because of the availability of deep sea fishing charters, and having the option to catch massive fish. The charters that can take you out to the depths of the big blue can put you onto huge tuna, jacks, dolphins, and a lot more. If you haven't experienced it, and don't have the money to load up your entire family and take them out of the country, you need to start looking around for charters around you.

As for what to expect on your charter boat fishing trip, you are going to want to have to get up early in the morning to get onto the boat, and are going to want to expect to be on the water all day. The charter captain will take care of meals and drinks for your group, so you don't have to worry too much about packing lunches. Just be prepared for a long day, because it often takes an hour or more to get to your fishing spot, while not a problem in the beginning of the day, for the less determined anglers in your group, it may cause fussing and fighting just from being worn out and tired on the trip back to the marina.

Some charter fishing boats and companies will often times load up other groups onto the boats with your group, and while this isn't a problem because of the size of the boat, some times you get groups together that just don't get along well, and as mentioned earlier, at the end of the day this causes stress and tension, which has happened on a lot of the multiple group charter boat fishing trips I have been on, and unfortunately this method earns the captain more money, so they like to practice it. If this is going to be an issue for your group, or you think you may just have more fun with the few people you want to bring, there are captains that will cater to your needs, so consider asking for it up front and you may receive.

Deep sea charter fishing is by far one of the cheapest ways to get out and catch some really large fish. The monsters live in the deep, and a good charter captain is going to take you to the shelf where the water drops from hundreds of feet deep, to thousands of feet deep. If they aren't going to the shelf, they will probably take you to the sunken ships and reefs that the government often builds up for sport fishing efforts. Whatever the case, the gas for these boats, as well as bait and the captains time do cost a bit of money, but you can easily load a charter fishing boat down with you and 5 of your buddies, and each person spend less than $100 to fish for the day. You will all be guaranteed huge catches too as long as you choose a decent charter fishing captain.
