There are a lot of times when I just can’t make my way out onto the water, whether from life’s every day hassles getting in the way, or just having a really cold or windy day where it just wouldn’t be wise to get out on the water. Thankfully though, I have had fishing games to help pass the time when I actually had a chance to go fishing, and really just couldn’t get on the water. Luckily for me, there were a few decent ones that really stood out among the rest. If it hadn’t been for these few games that took up a lot of time once you got started, I may have been stuck just dreaming about going fishing.

When I said that I had gone through a mass of these video games, I really mean that I went through just about every title that you can find, for almost every gaming system known to man. Everything between the original fat Gameboy, to the new PS3 and Wii systems. The one thing that I quickly found out though was that free fishing games often were only good to kill a few minutes, and if you wound up playing any longer than that, the game either broker itself, or was incredibly unrealistic and forced you to quit playing. On the other end of the spectrum though, I did play quite a few nicer games.

When I got to the higher end systems, like the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and the Nintendo Wii, I ended up finding fishing games online, where I could compete with other anglers and build points, sort of like tournament fishing. With the increase in graphics technology, along with the capability to play these games over the internet made it actually pretty fun. You have to be careful though, because some of the kids on these games have rather foul mouths and it often sounds like their parents are nowhere to be found. If you are one of these kids, shame on you.

Bass fishing games come in all varieties that I have seen, some ranging from incredibly realistic, to the other end of the spectrum providing absolutely no realism at all. The newer games that have been released over the last few years do provide more advanced features, and technology for graphics which makes them a bit nicer to play, but you can’t completely rule out the classic fishing video games that have been around for ages. During the period when these games were released, you had to have a solid foundation to make sales year after year, so it is often a safe bet finding a classic best seller fishing game.

A lot of anglers don’t have the luxury of taking the boat out every weekend to hit up their favorite fishing hole, but instead spend more time with their family along the banks of their favorite farm, backwater, and retention ponds, sometimes even camping in a canvas tent. These little ponds are loaded down with fish which is why so many anglers are finding them, but standing up all day can be incredibly uncomfortable. This is where having a good fishing chair to sit down on can make your day at the pond a lot more enjoyable.

Fishing chairs come in all varieties, and are available for just about any type of fishing that want to enjoy. These chairs often come with cup holders to keep your refreshments close by, as well as some of the models including rod holders to keep your pole secured while you are doing other things. Just make sure you don’t get up from the chair while your rod is in the rod holder.. if you get a fish it could be the end of your rod, reel, and chair. With this being said, you can take a look at what you are going to need the chair for, to make sure that you are going to get the best use out of it. You are going to want to make sure that you purchase a portable fishing chair regardless to ensure that you can easily move it from the vehicle to the side of the pond.

If you are an ice fishermen, you are going to end up finding that a specialized ice fishing chair is just right for you. Some of these chairs include heat pads in the seat, arms, and back that will collect your body heat and amplify it to ensure that you stay warm out there in your shanty. Sitting in the freezing cold on top of a thick layer of ice is a quick way to drain your body heat, so you can clearly see how having one of these fishing chairs is such an advantage, not to mention keeping you comfortable.

For those of you that get your kicks hiking through the wilderness trying to find new fishing holes, you may want to consider purchasing a backpack fishing chair that will fold up and easily be stowed out of your way so you can move around through the woods. You don’t want to have to worry about having objects hanging out that are going to pull you off your feet if they get snagged on something you are passing by.

There are a lot more styles of fishing chairs, and as you can see, it is a very wise decision to pickup a folding fishing chair that can easily be stored when you aren’t using it. These types of seats go a long way to keeping you comfortable when you are on the water, no matter what type of fishing you are enjoying. The best part is that the price of most of the fishing chair models you will find aren’t really all that expensive.

If you are sitting next to the bank, you may want to consider picking up a folding chair, or even a fishing seat that has a rod holder on it.  Some of these chairs are so comfortable that you are going to want to sit back, pull your hat brim down, loosen the drag, and wait for it to begin screaming.  Nothing better than taking a nap in the middle of the summer, next to your favorite fishing honey hole.

Kayak fishing seats come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from incredibly soft, to stiff and completely waterproof.  Most kayak seats come with a back, and strap to adjust it according to how you paddle, so you usually don’t have to worry about being uncomfortable.  If you have been having aches and pains on your kayak from sitting in the same position for too long, you may want to consider purchasing a new kayak fishing seat that will allow you to sit up, and avoid the “wet butt” as well as providing your back some needed relief.

The best fishing umbrella is one that is going to have a base, or a way to easily anchor it to the ground without too much hassle. If the umbrella that you are thinking about, or use offers up an incredibly tough time setting it up, and taking it down, then you may want to consider purchasing a new model, or upgrading the model that you currently have. With anglers speaking out much louder over the last few years, manufacturers have quickly followed suit, and began producing models that fishermen and women can actually use.

Discount fishing umbrellas are an option if you’re not a regular fisherman or woman. If you are only going to be using the umbrella a few times each year, or fishing season, then you are going to be able to get away with simply purchasing a cheap or discount fishing umbrella and storing it away when you’re not using it. With this little usage, you shouldn’t encounter any problems with wear and tear or the life of the umbrella. When it’s time to get a new one, you have more than likely gotten your monies worth from the previous one.

For those of you that go bank fishing or shore fishing on a regular basis, you are going to want to invest the money into a higher quality fishing umbrella that is easier to put up and take down, as well as being able to store it without having to worry about it tearing the next time you take it out. The materials used in the higher end fishing umbrellas are used to ensure that you get a long life from the umbrella, and make sure that you shouldn’t have to purchase a new model for a long time to come.

There are different types of fishing jackets though, so depending on how you are getting onto the water, you are going to want to find a jacket specialized for your type of fishing. For instance, if you are fishing from a boat, you are going to want a fishing life jacket that has pockets in it to store your small tools, spare lures, hooks, and other necessities that are better kept within reach. These types of jackets also increase your safety on the water, because accidents can happen at any time, and catch you completely off guard.

For fly fishermen though, you’ll experience a different sort of cold, by wading into the water.  We already mentioned that the water temperatures tend to fall off around the same time the air temperature does, and wading into colder water can quickly sap the warmth from your upper body.  Thankfully, having a fly fishing jacket will give you storage spots to put your flies, extra line and leaders, spare spools if you carry them, as well as keeping the body heat in your upper body.  This means that you get to wade the banks in comfort, while your partners are shivering and bawking about the cold water.

Regardless which type of fishing you do, whether from a boat or wading up and down the shore, you are going to want to think about a waterproof fishing jacket.  Rains during the fall season, especially in the southern states can come at you from practically nowhere, and if you aren’t prepared, you are going to find out what a fall rain storm feels like.  The water is cold, and will ruin your day unless you are wearing a waterproof fishing jacket.  As you can see, they keep you comfortable in more ways than one.

There are a lot of toys on the market, but when it comes to actually getting used, and doing what it was purposed to do is above a lot of the toys that you are going to purchase for your children.
