When it comes to Canada fishing, what comes to mind? Are you thinking of huge trophy Salmon, Pike, or Walleye fish? What about back country fishing lodges, that give you the most scenic environment anyone could ask for? How about getting to travel to lakes that very few people have been to, and that require a plan to get to? Canada provides some amazing fly in fishing, if you are prepared for the journey, and have the adventurer at heart. A Canadian fishing trip is one that your family is not soon to forget, as long as you know what you want, before you start scheduling.

If you are wanting a laid back trip, without too much excitement, then you can easily plan a trip at a Canadian lodge, and have all of your dreams fulfilled. From the species of fish that you are looking to catch, to the types of lakes you are wanting to fish on, there is a lodge to suit every type of angler, and a backdrop to suit every member of your family, regardless of how picky they are. Canada is a different kind of exotic though, so you must head up there with the right mindset.

Once you have finished fishing, you are going to want to figure out what you intend to do while you are there. Canada has an incredible history background, that is bound to astonish your family members, if they are able to get into the information provided. Taking a Canada fishing trip doesn’t have to be all about fishing. The memories fostered while you are on vacation are not soon to be forgotten. You will hear stories from your family members about what they did, or the experiences they had, for years to come.

If you have been wanting to plan a fishing trip to an exotic destination but unfortunately don’t have the funds available, then you really need to consider a Canada fishing trip. While most anglers don’t really consider Canada an exotic destination, you really have to reconsider those thoughts. You need to think about a few things before you start booking your flights though, like which seasons are best to travel into Canada, because the weather and ice can get pretty bad up there. There are also a few main species of fish that you can target while you are up there, and if you had one in particular that you wanted to target, you are going to want to make sure that the season you choose is the proper activity season for that species of fish. There are also a few different areas that you can travel to that have plenty of resorts and charters available to cater to your needs. The best part of all of this is that it really isn’t all that expensive when compared to other fishing trips, and you get to spend a lot of quality time with your family that they will never forget.

Canada really is an exotic location, even though when most people think of exotic, they think of South America or somewhere tropical along the equator, but the tropics aren’t the only exotic destinations in North and South America. Canada holds spectacular back drops through all seasons, but the winters can be pretty harsh up there so keep that in mind before you start booking. Also, if you had a target species in mind, you are going to want to determine when the best season is to catch them, because while you can catch Sturgeon year round up there, the other species like Trout, Salmon, and Vardent are more active during different times in the year. You don’t want to get up there chasing your favorite trophy only to find out you chose the wrong season.

There are a few freshwater lakes available for you to stay at in Canada, as well as having spectacular fishing along the coasts in the saltwater. Above all, there are plenty of unnamed and unmapped lakes that receive hardly any fishing pressure at all, just waiting for you to get to them. Unfortunately, you do have to fly in and land on these types of lakes, so the cost is a bit higher, but the experience is excellent. If you really want to get away from it all, then you have got to consider taking a Canada fishing trip, and maybe even think about adding in a fly in fishing experience to the to do list. It is something that you will not soon forget.

If you are a seasoned fly-fishing enthusiast then you do not have to be told that Canada fishing has some of the best rivers and streams to experience in the world. A Canada fishing trip has something to offer ever angular out there. The hard part is just getting there, the rest is easy and can be very accommodating the outdoors sportsman.

One of the favorite destinations is a Canada fishing lodge, a hotel and resort just for fisherman and depending on the amenities you may only have to show up with your suitcase and shaving kit. Tackle and boat rentals are a given at most of the lodges, and of course they sell the most popular lures, and live bait that you will need for your days in this fishing Mecca.

Fishing trips in Canada have to of course be planned around the weather and depending how far north you are traveling and that window of opportunity can be very narrow. Also, depending on which territory you are traveling to will govern which fish you can catch and when. So be sure and ask detailed questions when speaking to a booking agent or the lodge owner to make sure you can maximize your stay and what you can catch.

You may want to perform some due diligence online before hastily booking a reservation at a fishing lodge. Go to Google.com and search for “Canada Fishing Lodge” and see what the offerings are available. You may be more interested in a rustic fishing lodge that is just basic shelter from the elements if you and a buddy are going. On the other hand if your family is traveling with you, especially your wife, then you may need to investigate some of the top shelf lodges that offer other activities for the kids and possibly one with a spa for your better half. Your better half will probably want more up to date or luxury accommodations.

One last item to consider are some fishing lodges are remote and Canada fly in fishing is really great for a bunch of guys wanting to just go fishing and not have anyone around except the fish, and possibly some bears. Remote fishing lodges are not frequented as much and you will have more opportunities to reel in the big ones. These of course will be a little pricier due to the fact that a bush pilot will have to chauffer you to and from civilization at the beginning and end of your stay.

There is a good reason why Canada fishing so popular among anglers, especially those that love to travel to their favorite fishing destinations. Canada offers a multitude of fishing trips, ranging from fly in lakes, full blown resorts, saltwater fishing on the coasts, as well as spectacular freshwater fishing lakes world renowned for their Sturgeon, Walleye, Salmon, and Trout. Before you start planning your Canada fishing trip, you are going to want to think about the seasons in the area that you are travelling to, as well as the types of fishing that you plan to do. Canada is incredibly beautiful with stunning backdrops, and a seemingly endless horizon. Just because Canada is so beautiful though, you really have to remember that it can be an extremely dangerous place as well, and keep this in mind before you start venturing too far from the resort or cabin you’re staying in.

Even though Canada has an amazing supply of freshwater lakes and rivers, finding the one that meets your fishing expectations is necessary, so you may want to perform a little research on the places available to rent for a certain time period. As mentioned earlier, you have to pay attention to the weather patterns around the time that you are planning your trip, because you can easily be snowed into your cabin up there, or fall into a fishing season that doesn’t provide you with your target catches. It doesn’t matter how good your charter is, if you are trying to fish during the wrong seasons, you just won’t have any luck. This is why you need to make sure of the species that you want to target in order to find a charter and a resort that can accommodate your needs.

The fishing seasons vary wildly in Canada, with fishing for different species being amazing at different periods of the year. Sturgeon fishing, one of Canada’s widest known trophy catches can be caught practically year round, with no real intervals or breaks in periods of activity, whereas salmon on the other hand have particular seasons for when you can catch them the best. Trout, Varden, and other species fall into this classification as well, so make sure that if you are trying to target one of them that you let your agent know ahead of time. This will give them the best chances of finding you the resort you are looking for.

Some of the best fishing in Canada can be found on the coasts, particularly on the west coast near Vancouver Island. If you are looking to target large salmon, then you are going to want to head over to the coast. Fraser Valley is another area where you can see spectacular salmon fishing if the time of the year and conditions are correct, so you may want to mention this one to your agent as well. For other freshwater destinations, as long as they aren’t frozen over, you can try looking into Misaw, Selwyn, or Black Lakes. Any of these destinations are going to provide you with non stop action, and are worth a mention. If you haven’t already, determine what kind of fish you want to catch, or what kind of area you want to be in, and contact your travel agent already. A Canada fishing trip may be just what you need.
